How I Look Put Together on My Laziest Days

You know those women who always seem to have it together (perfect hair, flawless outfits.. ugh) I used to wonder how they did it, especially when I felt like I was constantly in a rush. Since I feel like I'm constantly losing hours in the day, I had to figure out a few simple steps to look like them
As a stylist, I often get asked how to look effortlessly chic with minimal effort. While I won’t claim it’s totally effortless, I will say that showing up as your best self is always worth it. These five steps are my go-to routine that leaves me feeling put-together—no new clothes required.
5 Steps to Look More Put-Together, No Sweat:
1. Invest in High Quality Versatile Staples
Choose versatile pieces that can be easily mixed and matched to create different outfits. A classic trench coat, a pair of dark wash jeans, and a white shirt are all great staples. They're pieces that can be dressed up or down with minimal effort. These jeans below are from COS and I recommend them to a lot of my clients - you can find them here
2. Steam your clothes
Accessories are a quick and easy way to elevate any outfit. A statement necklace, a stylish hat, or a pair of ankle boots can instantly add interest to a simple look. Don't be afraid to experiment with different accessories to find your signature style.
4. Add a layer
Just one layer can completely transform your outfit. Whether it’s a jacket, a cardigan, or a blazer, layers add depth and structure to your look. This taps into the psychology of style, where adding layers creates a sense of balance and order, making you appear more confident and in control. Not only does this make you look more polished, but it also allows you to easily adjust your outfit for comfort throughout the day. Keep a few timeless, versatile layers in your wardrobe to instantly elevate any outfit with little effort, while boosting your sense of self-assurance.
5. Ditch the leggings
I get it...leggings are sooo comfy, but they can sometimes make your outfit feel a bit too casual, especially if you’re aiming for that polished, 'put together' look. Instead, try swapping them out for some tailored pants or jeans. You’ll still feel comfy, but you’ll look way more structured and intentional. Trust me, it makes a huge difference! From a fashion psychology standpoint, tailored pieces give off a vibe of confidence and professionalism, so you’ll feel more put together without sacrificing comfort. Plus, they’re just as easy to throw on, no extra effort needed.
